Spend the Evening at Disney’s BoardWalk

When planning a Walt Disney World vacation, it's tempting to fill every minute with rides, parades, and park-hopping fun. But taking a rest day, or even just a relaxing evening, is essential for recharging and making the most of your trip. One of our favorite ways to unwind while still soaking up the Disney magic is by spending time at Disney’s BoardWalk.

Located just steps away from EPCOT’s International Gateway, Disney’s BoardWalk is a charming, turn-of-the-century Atlantic City-style waterfront promenade. With dining, entertainment, and scenic views, it’s the perfect place to slow down and enjoy a more laid-back side of Walt Disney World.

Why Choose the BoardWalk for a Rest Day?

Whether you’re staying at one of the nearby resorts or coming over after a day in the parks, the BoardWalk offers a calm, beautiful setting that still feels full of magic. No theme park ticket is required to enjoy the area, and you’ll find a great mix of free and budget-friendly activities—plus a few fun splurges.

How to Spend the Day

Stroll & Sightsee

Start your day with a peaceful walk around the crescent-shaped lake. You'll pass by beautiful resorts like Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, the Yacht & Beach Club Resorts, and the Swan & Dolphin. The BoardWalk is especially quiet in the morning, so it’s a great time to grab a coffee from BoardWalk Deli and soak in the views.

Enjoy a Leisurely Breakfast or Brunch

Try Trattoria al Forno for a hearty breakfast, or head to Ale & Compass at the Yacht Club for delicious seasonal fare. Both are just a short walk apart, and advanced dining reservations are usually easier to get here than in the parks.

Rent a Surrey Bike or Go for a Boat Ride

For a bit of light activity, rent a surrey bike and loop around the lake. You’ll get some laughs and gentle exercise—perfect for a rest day! If you’re feeling extra relaxed, take a Friendship Boat ride around the lake and over to EPCOT or Hollywood Studios (no park ticket needed unless you get off at a park).

How to Spend the Evening

Dinner with a View

The BoardWalk is home to several excellent dining spots. Try Flying Fish for signature seafood or Trattoria al Forno for Italian favorites. Looking for something quicker? Grab pizza from a walk-up window or a sandwich from BoardWalk Deli.

Evening Entertainment

As the sun sets, the BoardWalk comes alive with entertainment. You might see magicians, jugglers, or musicians performing right on the promenade. It feels festive but never overwhelming, perfect for families or couples wanting a low-key night.

Grab a Sweet Treat

Don’t skip dessert! BoardWalk Ice Cream serves classic sundaes and cones, and The Cake Bake Shop® by Gwendolyn Rogers is an elegant dessert shop with tasty treats and stunning cakes.

Fireworks Views

While not guaranteed, you may catch a glimpse of EPCOT’s nighttime fireworks from parts of the BoardWalk, especially near the bridge between Beach Club and BoardWalk Inn. It’s a magical bonus for those lingering into the evening.

Where to Stay Nearby

You can stay right in the heart of the action at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, or choose from nearby resorts like Beach Club, Yacht Club, or Swan & Dolphin. All offer easy access to the BoardWalk and make this area a perfect home base for EPCOT and Hollywood Studios days.
