Disney Cruise Line Dining Options

Disney Cruise Lines does a few things different from other cruise lines when it comes to dining. We are going to break it down for you so you know exactly what to expect once onboard! From themed restaurants to poolside snacks, there’s something for every palate—and the best part is, it’s all included!

Here’s a quick guide to what you can expect:

Rotational Dining (Main Dining)

Disney Cruise Line features three main dining rooms on each ship (except the Disney Adventure, I’ll have to right a separate post about that since it is so unique), and you’ll rotate through them each night—but your servers stay with you the whole time! They’ll learn your preferences and make each meal even more magical. Each dining room has its own unique theme and menu.

You will have the chance to dine in each dining room at least once! One sailings longer than 3 nights, you will rotate through the dining rooms, some more than once.

Once you are on the ship, you can connect to the ship’s WiFi and use the DCL Navigator app. This will show you your assigned dining room each night and your table number. When booking your cruise, you select either the early (around 5:15pm-5:45pm) or late dining time (approx. 8pm-8:30pm). The early dining time fills up quickly, but there is the option to join the waitlist before setting sail.

If you aren’t moved off the waitlist before sailing and you are unhappy with your dining time, you can head to Guest Services or the designated area to request a dining change. Check the app or ask a cast member where you can do this as soon as you board the ship.

The evening entertainment is typically scheduled opposite your dining time. So for most shows, if you have early dinner, you can then head to the show after you eat. For late dinner times, you will typically go to the shows before dinner. If you don’t get your preferred dining time, there may be a benefit to this! We found with the earlier dining time, we felt rushed to get out of the pools or when returning from a cruise port. Whereas the late dining time gave us more time to get ready and enjoy the ship. Then we would head straight to bed after eating. Also, take into account the timezone you are traveling from. Since we are from Colorado, 8pm in the Caribbean is actually 6pm our time at home!

Check your app for menus and other times these may be open. There will usually be one main dining room open for breakfast and lunch onboard, all included in your cruise fare! This is a great way to enjoy a more leisurely meal, especially on embarkation day when everyone heads to the buffet for lunch.

Note: The buffet on board is NOT open for dinner like other cruise lines. So if you decide not to eat in the main rotational dining rooms, you will either have to head to the pool deck for the quick-service options or order rooms service. More about these options below.
